Training & Mentoring
At the G53 Network, we believe that advancing financial literacy and personal finance research requires the brightest minds and innovative thinking. To nurture emerging talent, we have launched two key initiatives: a mentoring and training program for graduate students, and the G53 Network Rising Scholar group—our vibrant community of early-career researchers dedicated to moving the field forward.
We recognize how challenging it can be for graduate students and junior researchers to enter a new field, where mentorship, support, and publishing opportunities are essential. Through these initiatives, we aim to address these challenges collectively, ensuring that promising researchers receive the guidance they need to thrive.
G53 Network Rising Scholars
The G53 Network Rising Scholars is a global community of early-career researchers committed to advancing research and evidence-based solutions in personal finance and financial literacy. As a subgroup of the G53 Network, it fosters collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional growth among emerging scholars. Members benefit from Brown Bag seminars with senior academics, quarterly research meetings, and a supportive environment for sharing ideas and receiving feedback.
The G53 Network Brown Bag Lunch
The G53 Network Brown Bag Lunch initiative provides two unique opportunities for graduate students, postdocs, and assistant professors. Firstly, junior researchers have the opportunity to join the virtual brown bag lunches to learn about the ongoing research of academics who are promoting personal finance and financial education. Secondly, junior researchers can also share research in progress with an expert panel of Network members. This can provide valuable feedback and insights about the research in progress. Whether a presenter or audience member, this is a special opportunity to build connections with senior and junior researchers around the world.
Financial Literacy Boot Camp
One of the objectives of the G53 Network is to support and grow the next generation of researchers in the field of financial literacy and personal finance. A central purpose of the network is to provide mentorship and empowerment to early career scholars to conduct high-quality research. The G53 Network Boot Camp provided a platform for Ph.D. students and junior faculty to discuss their research with senior faculty and provide training on academic writing and empirical methods.
